SARAH McCARTHY, MSc, MBA
Association ExecutiveMs. McCarthy joined Malachite as Association Executive in February 2008, bringing to Malachite a valuable blend of scientific and strategic management experience. Sarah worked as Business Development Officer for the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) in Vancouver where she was responsible for strategic evaluation of the commercialization potential of intellectual property developed within PHSA agencies. She has extensive pharmaceutical research and development experience, having worked as Electrophysiology Research Associate in the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics at the University of British Columbia (2004-2006), Microscopy Research Associate at Phoenix-based pharmaceutical company Kronos Laboratories (2004) and Biochemistry Research Associate in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Windsor (2003-2004).
Sarah serves as the Executive Director of the Canadian Blood and Marrow Transplant Group (2008-present), Executive Director of the American Society for Apheresis (2008-present), and Project Director for the International Society of Nurses in Cancer Care (2008-present).
Sarah holds an MSc in Pharmacology and Therapeutics from UBC and an MBA specializing in strategic management from the Sauder School of Business at UBC. She is a member of the BC Biotechnology Association.
